Frequently asked questions
- What is a DRIP?
- A dividend reinvestment plan automatically uses each dividend to buy more shares, so future dividends are paid on a growing number of shares.
- How are dividends modeled?
- Each period, dividend = shares × current price × yield ÷ payments per year. The yield is held constant, so the dividend per share grows with the share price.
- Are taxes included?
- No. In taxable accounts, reinvested dividends are usually still taxable in the year they are paid.
- What does “value without DRIP” mean?
- The value of shares bought only with contributions, plus all dividends kept as cash (without interest).
- Is my data private?
- Yes. Everything is calculated in your browser.
