Frequently asked questions

How is option profit calculated at expiration?
For a long option, profit = (intrinsic value − premium) × 100 × contracts. Call intrinsic value = max(0, stock − strike); put intrinsic value = max(0, strike − stock). Short positions have the opposite result.
What is the breakeven price?
Calls break even at strike + premium; puts at strike − premium.
Why is the loss unlimited for a short call?
The stock price has no upper limit, so the obligation to sell shares at the strike can cost any amount.
Does this model value before expiration?
No. It shows the payoff at expiration only; time value and volatility are ignored. Commissions are not included.
Is my data private?
Yes. Nothing is sent to a server.
